    Sherry Poon 关注到目前市面上的衣服有很多化学物质,对于婴幼儿来说,他们的皮肤比较稚嫩,化学物质和毒素对皮肤损害较大。作为一个品牌,其目标是保持它的根本性,童装不应该被认为是时髦的或潮流的,更应该是可靠的。为了解决这一问题,Sherry Poon使用自然无毒有机棉来生产婴幼儿服装。在本次发言中,她解释了自己如何从建筑业的设计师转移到经营有机棉童装再到创办生态设计博览会。

    Sherry Poon found that there are many chemicals in the clothes on the market. For infants and young children, their skin is relatively tender, and chemicals and toxins are harmful to the skin. As a brand, the goal is to maintain its fundamentality. Children's wear should not be considered fashionable,but should be reliable. To solve this problem, Sherry Poon uses natural, non-toxic organic cotton to produce baby clothes. In this speech, she explained how she moved from the construction industry designer to the organic cotton children's wear to the Eco Design Fair.

Eco Design Fair – community eco event to showcase sustainable design, innovations and tools in Shanghai.So how did I get from architecture to running an organic cotton children’s clothes to organizing grass roots eco events?

     Wobabybasics 是一家可持续时装设计组织,负责有机棉童装的设计、制造和批发。生态设计博览会是在上海举办的展示可持续设计、创新和工具的社区生态活动。那么,我是如何从建筑业转移到经营有机棉童装再到组织草根生态活动的呢?

    Wobabybasics life cycle – throughout the production process, we try to eliminate chemicals. All our clothes are ethically made in a certified fair wear foundation factory,I am a designer through and through. Designers solve problems and by putting on clothing on my babies, wanted to solve the issues I saw. This is no ordinary shirt. It’s all in the details. Started with blank slate and redesigned it to be better.

    Wobabybasics生命周期–在整个生产过程中,我们努力消除化学物质,所有的服装都是在经过认证的基金会工厂生产的。我一直都是设计师,设计师负责解决问题,给我的孩子穿上衣服,我希望解决我遇到的问题。这不是普通的衬衫,全部都在细节中,从空白开始,并对其进行了重新设计以使其更好。


1) Supply Chain

organic cotton is the most natural and non-toxic fabric that could be used for babies, but cotton not without it’s fault and environmental impact. Such as high land use and high water use. Aiming to use local organic cotton (which we’ve started to use in our knitted collection), and recycled organic cotton to make our supply chain more circular.

2) Another problem was to reach the right target market for our clothes and to show off our eco credentials to those looking for the items. Spoke to clients and friends - found that many people either gave up looking for eco alternatives in Shanghai or brought over the items from overseas.

有机棉是最天然、无毒的婴儿面料,但它也有缺点和对环境有影响。如高土地利用率,高水资源利用率。为了使用当地的有机棉(这种有机棉已经开始在我们的针织系列中使用),我们回收有机棉,从而使我们的供应链持续循环。

     Our first Eco Design Fair held on April 26, 2008 at the courtyard of URBN Hotel. There were 32 vendors and over 500 visitors. Goals-Business and marketing platform for local eco businesses and designers -  EDF makes these brands stand out. Edutainment platform for general public to discover eco tools and options - fun and family oriented. Eco Design Fair has operated for 11 years so far (from 2008 to 2019). So far we have welcomed and inspired about 180,000 visitors.Worked with over 480 eco brands of all sizes. We have held 37 events. EDF is successful.What keeps EDF going - eco community and passion. passion - Solely volunteer run by those working in the eco.Eco community - collaboration - sometimes give a nudge - designers, artists, farmers, non-profits, - put everyone together and make it a big celebration.

3 key take-aways for healthier design, people, communities, cities.:go green, educate yourself, ask questions. Be the change. Say no to plastic and single-use packaging. Be role models for your children and other communities. Build, not buy, communities, and look for real consumers as brand champions. Stay focused on the people. Be patient. Share your stories. Go offline. Creative collaborations - Work together not against each other.
